Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most historic cities in Britain, famous for its stunning Georgian architecture, Roman Baths, university and glorious valley setting. The city offers a range of attractions, just 90 minutes from London.

Description

In the main shopping street in the very heart of the city. Capacity of 150 students.

Levels

All levels except beginners

 

Tuition

15 hours per week (mornings or afternoons on alternate weeks) in groups of maximum 14. Lessons are compulsory.

Distance from airports

The train from London Paddington takes 90 minutes. Paddington Station can be reached by direct train from London Heathrow Airport (15 minutes). There is also a coach/train service from Heathrow via Reading, which takes around 90 minutes. The train from Gatwick Airport takes 3 hours changing at Reading Station. The coach from Heathrow airport takes 2.5 hours.

Distances in Bath

In Bath most of the host families are located 10 - 20 minutes from the school by bus. Very few host families are within walking distance of the school. Students should be prepared to travel to and from school by bus. Weekly bus tickets are available and are at the expense of the individual student, and at the time of printing cost £14 for unlimited travel within Bath.

 

Activities

3 sessions per week and two evening activities (including swimming, tennis, football, barbecues, discos). Activity sessions are compulsory.

 

Excursions

1 full day excursion per week (except for final week of stay )and 2 half day excursions per week (for example Oxford, Stonehenge, London). Excursions are compulsory.

 

Accommodation HOST FAMILY

Single or shared rooms – singles are limited and cannot be guaranteed. All rooms are equipped with bed, adequate lighting and adequate wardrobe and drawer space. There will also be an area available where students can study. Students must keep their rooms tidy and make their own beds.

Some students may have to share a room with another member of their group. Please note that we cannot guarantee to find families without pets.

Meals

Breakfast: Families provide a breakfast of cereal with milk, bread or toast with jam or marmalade and a hot or cold drink.     

Lunch: Provided by the school from Monday to Friday. Lunch consists of filled sandwiches or rolls with a piece of fruit or a drink. On Saturday and Sunday students have lunch at home with the host family or a packed lunch is provided on request if they are going on an excursion.   

Dinner: With the host family. Dinner is a substantial meal of at least two courses generally served early in English homes between 17.30 and 19.00

Special diets: Special dietary requirements must ne notified at the time of booking.

 

Laundry

The host family will do a reasonable amount of personal laundry but not ironing or dry cleaning. Students will be offered the use of an iron if required. Bed linen and towels (but not swimming towels) are provided by the host family and will normally be changed regularly. Parents should ensure that garments the students bring with them are paractical and easy to launder. Host families are not expected to pay for clothes accidentally damaged in the wash.

 

Showers / baths

All students have access to a bath or shower at least once a day. Host families will give students instructions about how the shower operates and convenient times to use the bathroom.

 

Evening outings

Students who go out on their own in the evening must return by the following times:

Aged 14 and 15 – latest 22:30

Aged 16 and 17 – by 23:00 Monday to Friday and 24:00 at the weekend.

Host families will notify the school should students not obey the curfew times. Parents requiring an early return time must specify this in writing with their booking.
