THE FIRST MORNING AT IH NEWLAND PARK HOMESTAY CENTRE

On the first morning, a family member will escort you and any other students in the family to your school bus pick-up point. At the pick-up point you take the school bus to the Newland Park campus where your lessons and activities will take place.

09.15 – 09.30   Arrival at campus
On arrival, members of staff meet the new students from the school buses and escort them to the school offices.

09.45 - 11.15   Placement test
The placement test consists of 3 parts - a multiple choice exam, an oral exam and a composition task. At the end of the test students will go to the Lecture Theatre.

11.15 - 11.30   Break – A chance to meet the other new students.

11.30 - 11.50   Welcome Address by the Centre Manager
Students will receive information on the campus, how to find their way around, rules and regulations, safety and welfare, and be introduced to our staff etc.

11.50 - 12.45   Orientation tour
Escorted by the teacher, students will go to their classroom where they will receive their Student Folder. They will fill in their Student Identity Card and complete the Food Questionnaire that they will hand to the host family in the evening. Then they will go on a tour of the grounds so they can see where activities take place, where the shop is, toilets, disco area, notice-boards for information on activities and excursions etc. The teacher will be with them all the time to answer your questions and provide explanations.

12.45 – 13.45   Break for lunch

13.45 Depart on the first excursion

17.30 Return home
The school bus will return the students to their pick up points where a host family member will meet them to show them the way back to their home. The student can then relax and have dinner and enjoy an evening with an English host family.
