Airport
arrivals and departures / meeting services
There is a transfer service for Ardingly, Newland Park and Salisbury students provided students arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday. The standard return transfer is £70.00.
For Newland Park, students should arrive and depart via London Heathrow Airport. For Ardingly College, students should arrive and depart from Gatwick Airport. Salisbury students should arrive at Heathrow or Southampton Airports. All students should arrive on a Sunday and leave on a Saturday. A supplement will be charged for students unable to take advantage of our transfer arrangements. To take advantage of this service flights should be booked to arrive no later than 19:00 London Heathrow and 18:00 Gatwick. At the end of the course flight departure times should be no earlier than 11:00 London Heathrow and 12:00 Gatwick.
For Sulis Manor, please see group booking transfer information.
Meeting Service - Our representative will be wating at the Arrivals Hall, after passport control and customs, holding an International House sign. The representative will accompany students to the course centre transport. Please note this means some students may have to wait for students arriving on later flights. If the student fails to see the representative they should go to the Information Desk in the arrivals hall and ask them to put a call for the International House representative and wait there. In the event of further difficulties, the emergency number should be called +44 (0) 7768 590 480.
Unaccompanied minors
If a student is travelling as an unaccompanied minor or
hostess assisted passenger, the International House office
must be informed in advance and full details provided for
their arrival and departure. An additional charge of £20.00
on arrival and £50.00 on departure is made in the case of
students travelling as Unaccompanied Minors. This is because the accompanying representative is obliged to wait until the flight departs. This fee can be shared if two or more students are travelling together on the same flight. Please check
if there are any special requirements with your airline and
notify International House.
Please send the flight
details at least two weeks before the course starts

Arrival at the course centre
Students will be met by the Centre Manager and other memebers of staff on arrival and shown to their rooms. Passports, pocket money and airline tickets will be taken for safekeeping. There are regular times for giving out pocket money and the tickets and passport will be returned before departure. The key deposit (Newland Park only) and the damage deposit will be taken at the same time. The staff will also take details of any medical conditions or allergies we need to know about and if there is any medication the student has brought with them. Any student carrying a mobile phone should give the number to the staff. Students should make sure they look after their belongings, as International House cannot be responsible for the safety of personal possessions.
Identity cards, student folder and placement test
Students should bring two passport photographs with them; one for our records and one for their school identity card. This card should be carried at all times. It will show the student's photo, name, date of birth and the school telephone numbers. You will be given your student folder on arrival. The folder contains, amongst other things, a copy of the weekly programme - please read this carefully. The programme for your course will be given to you in your folder. This will give you the times and details of your lessons, activities, visits and excursions.
Along with the other students, you will hear a welcome speech from the Course Director who will explain your course, campus rules etc. in detail as well as introducing you to the other members of staff. You will then go on a tour of the campus so that you know where everything is - where to sign up for activities, where to have your meals, the campus shop etc.
Before your first lesson you will be given a placement test and oral interview to establish your level of English so that you may be placed in the appropriate group for your level. If you arrive late on the Sunday, this test will take place on Monday morning.
Supervision
by staff
There is a high ratio of staff to students. Students are accompanied on all excursions and activities by members of staff responsible for their welfare. Students are not allowed off campus except when accompanied by a member of staff. At all centres our experienced staff are reposisible for the welfare and safety of the students.
On the first day of the junior courses our staff explain
all matters affecting their personal safety. Please note
that International House will send home, at the expense of
the parents, students who refuse to abide by the regulations
or whose behaviour is found to be seriously disruptive. All
fees for the remainder of the course not taken will be forfeited.
Contacting students
Parents are requested not to ring on arrival days. Students are encouraged to phone their parents as soon as possible after arrival. They will be shown the location of the phones and will be helped by the staff. In an emergency, parents can contact the emergency telephone number +44(0) 7768 590480.

We usually recommend no more than £40-£100 per week for pocket money. We do not take reposibility for pocket money, passports or tickets if they are not given to the Centre Manager on arrival. Parents can send money to the school and we will pass it on to the student. There is a handling fee of £10.00 for this service.
